The maiden edition of Automation ExpoSouth will be hosted at Chennai from April 26-28, 2023.
According to a report by Research And Markets, the Indian industrial automation market was valued at USD 10.72 billion in 2021, and it is expected to reach USD 23.09 billion by 2027, at a CAGR of 14.26% over the forecast period (2022 - 2027).
With a renewed focus on manufacturing, backed by vigorous policy initiatives, the Indian industrial automation sector has witnessed dramatic changes in terms of companies adopting digitalisation by combining digital and physical aspects of manufacturing to deliver optimum performance. Growing environmental awareness has brought sustainability in focus with emphasis on achieving zero waste production and a shorter time to market.
The report further states how Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and the Industrial 4.0 are at the center of the new technological approaches for developing, producing, and managing the entire logistics chain, otherwise known as smart factory automation. They are dominating the trends in the industrial sector, with machinery and devices being connected via the internet.

One of the major factors that lend a boost to automation in industry was the Covid-19 pandemic that tested the global economy like never before. Automation was one of the major talking points throughout the pandemic, as businesses high on the adoption curve were better prepared to face months of lockdown which otherwise impacted every human activity globally. Companies started to look beyond conventional approaches and began to look at robotics-enabled automation systems, especially in the warehousing industry. Having suffered the impact of the pandemic, industry is now better prepared to deal with possible recurrence of as an adversity, and automation is one of the effective solutions. This much was evident during the 15th edition of Automation Expo that was held in mid-August, 2022, at the Bombay Exhibition Complex in Mumbai.
